Gathering Medical Data
Astronaut James Lovell undergoes a medical test prior to flying in space aboard Gemini 7. Carefully evaluated during a battery of pre- and post-flight medical examinations, Lovell and Frank Borman spent fourteen days in space during the mission, adding a wealth of experience to NASA’s understanding of the impact of space travel on human health. Ready for Flight
Jim Lovell and Frank Borman prepare for their long-duration mission aboard Gemini 7. Because they would be in space anyway, NASA officials designated the Gemini 7 capsule as the new target for Gemini 6 to rendezvous with, after Gemini 6’s original target vehicle exploded shortly after launch. The improvised rendezvous went well. NASA photo.
