Skylab 4: An Emphasis on Science
Gerald Carr, William Pogue, and Ed Gibson were the last crew to occupy Skylab. They made impressive scientific gains during their stay, photographing the Comet Kohoutek and a solar flare. After their return to earth, the station was shut down but left in orbit in hopes of its surviving into the shuttle era. Sadly, it did not; it fell to earth in July, 1979. NASA photo.
