Equipment Check
Michael Collins checks a camera prior to his Gemini 10 mission. John Young joined Collins on the trip -- Young’s second flight during the Gemini program. Collins performed the first ‘stand-up’ EVA during the flight, taking photos from the capsule’s open hatch for almost an hour. NASA photo.
A Walk Toward Destiny
Gemini 10 astronauts John Young and Michael Collins head toward their space capsule prior to launch. During the flight, they accomplished the rendezvous and docking exercises that had eluded previous missions. The target vehicle even pushed their Gemini into a higher orbit, marking the first time that an unmanned craft had been used for that purpose. NASA photo.
